Average, at best. It's a cozy little place but the concept and food are not worth the trip. You have to place all drink and food orders at the bar - unfortunately, this means fighting through those who are sitting at the bar as they have no designated area to place orders. The food itself is all bland and appears to come from a bag out of the freezer. We ordered breaded mushrooms which had no flavor (breading or mushrooms themselves) as well as two burgers. The burgers were not seasoned and had no flavor. you get potato chips unless you upgrade to fries for an additional charge. Neither the chips or fries had any flavor and the chips were stale. They also only server RC products - Bottom line, it was a wasted trip as we were both disappointed and said we would not return in the future. Try it for yourself, maybe your tastes are a bit different than ours!!

Picture deep south, but in Wisconsin... Nothing around you but corn fields and a giant lake. The only thing is this bar, tucked in plain sight with a few scattered houses and boats floating at the doc. Welcome to Norm's. This place is a fantastic dive bar. Cash only. Everything. Food is great and simple, beer is constantly flowing, and almost every weekend, Norm himself out grilling for all his guests. The bar is small and it is filled with the weekend locals. Everyone knows everyone and you're here to have a good time. I would recommend the cheese curds and the pizza. Cheap prices too.

Place is always busy on the weekend, so expect to wait for your food. Busy is a good thing, at least you know they're not serving rotten food due to lack of customers. Get a drink and relax and enjoy the lake views. Haven't run across anything we don't like so far. We really like the ribeye sandwich and the roast beef sandwich. Prime rib is okay. They take cash only to keep prices low. Our son always wants to eat here, which is a thumbs up in his case. Toddlers never usually want to eat anything except candy...

Service is highly hit and miss. Seven tables equals a 45-minute wait for food. The view of the lake is great.

Fish here is just the best. I had the char - broiled walleye and Julie has the pares an crusted walleye. Both done well and just excellent. They do offer bar food, but the specials that are offered once a week are truly excellent. The fish is one example

Bring your friends and come hungry! We loved this place! Went with a group of six for Friday Fish Fry and was surprised to find a table right away, although the place was pretty packed around 6:30pm! Classic Wisconsin feel with stuffed animals and fish everywhere! Love that Wisconsin is non-smoking: smoking was only allowed on the porch. Most people had the standard fried cod, I had bluegills, and one person had parmesan crusted fish. All of us loved it! Cod was around $8, while bluegills were about $14. Choice of potato included potato pancakes, which many of us had and loved (served with syrup and applesauce). We shared cheese curds, fried cauliflower, and a cheese-spread plate. They were all superb! They take orders at the bar and bring food out to you. Took a bit to get service at the bar, but we weren't in a hurry. Although there is an ATM, I was surprised they do not accept plastic, so bring your cash! I'd suggest Norm's for any type of group, from couples to families to friends. Not the best for a quiet romantic dinner, although the six of us found it easy enough to have a conversation, even though we were in the middle of the room, surrounded by packed tables. They had a very large menu with a variety of pub foods and local specialities.

4 stars for sunday morning breakfast. Fish and Eggs. Yes, you read that right. So good you'll bring friends next time. Wash it all down with a very tasty bloody mary and you're ready for whatever's left of your weekend. I don't like it as much for dinner. Usually crowded and smoke filled. 3 stars for dinner.

They have yellow AND white cheese curds which are delicious! Other food is good as well. Try their Sunday BBQ! It's great!! Hard to get parking on the boat since there's only one pier.

Boated up to Norm's on a Friday at 7:00 PM. There were open tables and the rush was winding down. After we figured out there was not bar service to the table I ordered drinks at the bar with no issues. The drinks and beers were good but things went down hill from there. Later, I ordered another drink for a member of our party....was ignored at both bars while others were waited on first. Shouldn't have to watch 8 other people get a drink first. What happened to "who is next?" or just looking to see who was there first. The food came out 75 minutes later. It was served by Norm himself.....not sure why as he made no conversation with us not even a friendly "hi." Why would an owner not check with his customers??? He could only bring three entrees and we waited for him to make his journey back to the kitchen for the remaining meal which came a long four minutes later. The food was hot and adequate but nothing special. When I paid...no credit cards accepted just a kind of rude sign directing people to a surcharge cash machine (really?), a friendly bartender asked how was everything and I did complain. She was apologetic but not her colleague who argued with me about the woman who ordered in front of me....she missed the other three people she served before me. We had a long drive home in the boat in the dark. I was steamed but did not let my guests know and ruin their night like mine.

This is a fun little restaurant, but I would not necessarily go back. What a weird, back-road route to even find it. Yes, it really is hidden away. Food-wise, it was good. I enjoyed the Friday Night Fish Fry with fried blue gill. The potato pancake that came with it was quite tasty. The coleslaw may have been plastic; I'm not sure, it had absolutely no flavor. Good prices for the amount of food you receive. We met Norm as he brought the entrees to our table. Someone else in our group told him that it was our first time eating at his restaurant. He didn't really give us a warm welcome with that comment -- he just continued to set down our plates of food. If someone invites me here, I'll go along again. But I didn't love this restaurant enough to make it a point to really visit again.

Quick review: cozy little bar located on Lake Koshkogon just outside of Fort Atkinson. Great service, excellent food, unbelievable value, and well worth the drive. Only downside: allows smoking inside. Detailed review: we decided to try Norm's for Friday Night Fish. Arrived at around 6:15pm and took a seat at the large, wooden bar. We were surrounded by friendly folks, a handful of televisions, and countless pieces of taxidermy. Norm's has a great northwoodsy/outdoorsy feel; from its log cabin-like construction to the hunting/fishing/boating kitsch that adorns the walls, it just feels "homey" inside. The bartenders were absolutely stellar - they were quick and attentive, fun to chat with, and gave us some great suggestions for items to try. Beers were cheap - $2.50 for a pint. Drinks were cheap as well - $3.00 for an Old Fashioned; $4.00 for everything else. We ordered cheese curds and mini corndogs to start with. Each were $4, and both were great. The curds, while not homemade, were excellent and featured a nice beer batter. No sign of grease anywhere - and that's always a plus in our book! Norm's table policy is simple - first come, first served. Find an open table, claim it as your own, and then place your food/drink order(s) at the bar. The menu featured burgers, pizza, and other pub food, but we were here for one thing: fish. The Friday offerings included: cod, fiesta cod (poached), blue gill, walleye, smelt, shrimp, and catfish. We ordered the cod, the fiesta cod, and the walleye. We also ordered fries and potato pancakes. Our order went back to the kitchen, and within 30 minutes or so, one of the friendly bartenders brought us our dinners. The deep-fried cod was absolutely perfect. Three large fillets, all lightly battered and fried to perfection. The cod was hearty, flaky, moist, and flavorful. The potato pancakes were cooked nicely, with a decent crust and a mild potato flavor. The maple syrup perfectly complimented the potato pancakes. The fiesta cod was excellent as well and featured a large poached fillet of cod, topped with a roasted garlic salsa. Like its deep-fried cousin, the poached cod was superb - thick cut, tender, and delicious. The Walleye earned top remarks as well; we didn't sample it, but the fillet looked to be large and yummy. I believe it was lightly breaded. Value was phenomenal - $36 for two of us, including the appetizers, countless drinks, and dinner. Our dining compatriots ate for $40 - they drank mixed drinks and had the Walleye, which was slightly more expensive than the cod. As mentioned, the only downside to Norm's is that they allow smoking, but it didn't bother us much. Only a few people were actually smoking, and we managed to score a table in the room that's located "away" from the main bar, so all was good. We'll definitely go back. Norm's Hideaway = WIN Service = 4.5 stars (fast, courteous, friendly) Food = 4.5 stars (great fish, great appetizers/sides) Value = 5 stars MISC = 4.5 stars (excellent atmosphere - right on the lake) It's worth the short drive from Madison - just hop on I-39/90 south, exit at the Edgerton ramp, take 106 east until you hit Lake Koshkognon. You'll be glad you did.

This place is pretty terrible. Not great service. Dirty tables/disgusting ketchup/mustard/ranch dressing bottles out on the table that were oozing and crusty. Food was tasteless and expensive.
